This project is intended to improve traffic flow at the intersection by providing separate northbound left and right turn lanes in Robert E. Lee Road at Barton Springs Road. The
project also includes sidewalks construction to improve pedestrian access to and thru the intersection. The steep bluffs on both sides of Robert E. Lee Road and the poor soil conditions at the site
presented special engineering considerations and challenges.
The preliminary design engineering consisted of a site survey, geotechnical study of soils and slope retention system, alternative concepts for improvements, preliminary design, preliminary cost estimate, and construction considerations.
