ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT FOR PROPOSED PARK AND RIDE FACILITY

LOCATION:  GEORGETOWN, TEXAS

CLIENT:  CITY OF GEORGETOWN

DATE COMPLETED: NOVEMBER 1991

This project was an environmental assessment of the proposed site for a city park and ride facility on the west side of U.S. 81 (I-35 Business Route), within the City of  Georgetown near the intersection of U.S. 81 and IH-35.  the purpose of the facility is to provide Georgetown residents with additional options for gaining access to shared transportation alternatives, primarily carpooling to work areas outside of Georgetown.  Environmental issues which were evaluated included conservation and preservation, historical and archeological, noise, and displacement of people, business, and farms.  It was necessary to make a karst evaluation due to proximity to Inner Space Caverns, as well as a hazardous materials evaluation since the site is a former waste dump area. The assessment concluded that the proposed project would have insignificant social, economic, and environmental impacts. the project proceeded forward to design and construction
